1. What is the process for adopting a pet?

Answer:
a. Complete and submit the application.
b. We will conduct a home visit.  If all goes well, the pet may be
adopted.  There is an adoption contract and the fee is due at the time
of the adoption (see the link on adoption fees).

2. Why so many questions/home visit?

Answer:  we care very deeply about the animals in our program.  We
want to make sure we make a good match so the animal has a
permanent home.  We know you are a good person but, we want to
make sure this is a good fit for your situation.  Please don't be angry
with us.  We really know our animals' personalities and we want you to
be happy!

3. Why do I have to do obedience training with my dog?  I thought the
dogs were already trained?

Answer:  our foster parents work with their foster dogs on house
manners, house training and crating.  The dogs need additional
training to ensure they fit into your family, your rules and
circumstances.  The training also builds that bond of love and loyalty.

We have found this really works!  Our return rate is less that 1
percent.  Most of our dogs are the honor graduate of their class!

4. How should I choose a pet?

Answer:  Don't ever choose a pet based on looks alone.  Personality
should be your number one criteria.  Take a hard look at your
situation and what personality would be fit into your family.  Also,
watch the short video on our website under the adoption link.

5. What if something happens and I cannot keep my pet.

Answer:  the pet must be returned to our organization.

6. Is basic obedience really required for my pet?

Answer:  Yes.  Obedience training is an important responsibility that
goes along with responsible pet guardianship.
A dog’s nose has about 4
times as many scent cells
as a cat’s and 14 times more
than a human. That’s why dogs
can be used to track down
illegal drugs and missing
persons.
